Borneo

Michael and I embarked on a quick trip (and very unplanned!!) to Borneo from the 27th May till the 1st June.
It was meant to be a very relaxing, sit by the pool and get massages type trip, but there was so much to see and do, that we only did a bit of that :)

The adventure started before we even stepped off the plane. I have never been to a muslim country before, so the first plane ride was an experience for me... They bless the plane ride! It was pretty cool, and very interesting to see another religion that I knew not much about.
When we got to our second plane, there was dance music playing and bright lights flashing. I called it the party plane to the party island. The music and lights continued till we landed! Good times!!!
Then we get to KK and went to our beautiful hotel.

The hotel we stayed in. The Magellan Sutera Resort. Looking across the pool from the South China Sea looking through to the lobby of the hotel.

The Sunset while having drinks at one of the hotel bars.

We took a trip to the forest and hot springs. Along the way we stopped at a market place and had a really beautiful view of Mt Kinabalu. Most of the markets there were in a tin shed and filled to the brim with stalls. They mainly sell handicrafts (bags, wallets, pearls, beads, gems and wooden crafts) but we didnt do too much shopping.
Market stalls
Mt Kinnabalu. Its a 2 day trek to climb it. Michael says its an easy hike, but we didnt have time or much inclination to climb it!

After the market place, we headed to hot springs, butterfly sanctuary, Botanical Gardens and Canopy Walk.
Michael on the Canopy walk. It was very unstable and moved alot! It was so high.. about 200 ft off the ground. We had kids behind us that were running and jumping on the canopy.. like I said, it moved around quite a bit!

Me with my "humidihair"!!! haha

The Poring Hot Springs. They dont have the natural springs anymore. The water is pumped through pipes to these pools. We didnt swim in them (it was really hot.. hot springs didnt inspire me when it was so humid!) but it was pretty cool that they still have them.

One of the many photos of flowers I took in the botanical gardens.

On the drive back to KK we drove through heaps of clouds. The visibility was so poor, at one stage we had about 50 Mtrs to see!

Sunset on the second night back at our hotel.

On the last day we took a boat tour around different Islands around KK. We went to Manukan Island and saw some amazing fish just from the Jetty. The snorkeling was amazing. The reef was right on shore and the water was about waist height.
We also went parasailing. I had never been before, so didnt know what to expect. It was fun, but not as fun as I thought it would be... although getting wet and then shooting back up to the air was great!

He has the whole world in his hands!

We had the most amazing trip. Saw some life changing things and met some lovely people. We both had the best time and would definitely go back again.

My first post

I have decided to make a blog on my travels in life. It is a place to put photos and let you know what we are up to.

You will see some photos that I choose to put up on the blog, but the title will be a link that will connect to all the photos that we took on the trip.
I will be starting with some more recent trips, but will add all the trips I have been on.
I hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think!

New York And CT 2000/2001

I like to be in America....

I embarked on a journey (first one by myself!) in the Summer of 00/01 to America. I would be taken to wonders such as New York and Connecticut.
Little did I know, my boyfriend at the time (Michael!!) was to surprise me by showing up at Christmas time!

When I was younger, mum took us to CT to show us where she lived for alot of her life. I met Missy and her family for the first time then. Missy and I remained pen pals for 10 years. I chose to travel to America by myself to go and hang out and get to know her and her family a bit better.
We became friends in an instant (and are to this day).

I spent the majority of my time in Milford Connecticut with my "family" and had a great time.

We had a really nice dinner when Michael first arrived. The whole family came along (top photo) and Michael and I had really really short hair!
The photo below is Missy's parents with Nicki.. who is just adorable.. and Missy's cousin.

Michael and I headed off to NYC for NYE!

We made our way down to Times Square, but the wind chill was -30C.. so we headed back to Debbie and Barts apartment (Cathys sister and Brother in law) and watched it all on TV.

Michael and I went back to CT, but we went to Debbie and Bart's house in Cornwall Bridge.
We were blessed with beautiful snow, a gorgeous house and Debbie's great coffee!!!
Then he had to leave to go back to Perth. I stayed on for a while longer hanging with my new friends and family.

After Cornwall, I headed back to Milford to hang out with the Diensons and Serapiglias a bit more.
This is the Milford pond. It is about a 2 minute walk from Missy's parents house and Missy's gradparents house. They live on different streets close together.
It is beautiful. Mum used to go ice skating on it when she was younger.

The house on the left is the house my mum grew up in. The house on the right is the house Cindy (Missy's mom) grew up in.
Cindy and Joey (Missy's parents) now live in that house.

This is the Dinesons house. They still live in this house today and I have been lucky enough to visit many times. Its beautiful.. Especially in winter.

Hanging out in Milford with fun people!

I have been lucky enough to have been back to CT many times. This was the first of so many trips for me and I made lifelong friends who Im glad to say, I still see to this day (2008)
